Allison Mathis leads fight for 338th Criminal District Court in Harris County for the March 5, 2024 Democratic primary.

Mathis aggressively brought in $17,000 as she started her campaign – a sum which is significant in a criminal district court race. Her campaign website shares some of her background and goals in running for judge.

Mathis is a native of Houston. She earned her undergraduate degree at University of Houston and is an alumni of South Texas College of Law.

Mathis served as a public defender in the Republic of Palau – an island nation near the Phillippines. There she brought a case which ended solitary confinement for prisoners.

She has also been a public defender in Fort Bend County where she also served on the board of the Fort Bend County Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.
