Pervez Agwan

Pervez Agwan may be the revival of the American Dream in politics as he runs for Congress in Texas’s 7th Congressional District.

Agwan is a father, husband, engineer, environmentalist, the son of immigrants, and now congressional candidate.

One college Democrat said “his campaign is so evidently fueled by passion and knowledge.”

Agwan plans to address the issues he believes to have derailed the American Dream.

He is a former oil and gas engineer turned renewable energy developer and hopes to address these issues in Washington.

Agwan’s campaign will focus on Houston’s heavy dependency on the unpredictable oil and gas industry, governments run by corporations, dishonest politicians, inequality, among others.

He also wants focus on environmental decay, the housing crisis, and banning ownership of war-like weapons.

Agwan’s parents immigrated to New York City from India.

It was there his campaign inspiration starts.

His father was a blue-collar worker that only spoke his native language, while his mother took care of Pervez and his brother. Once his parents found that sustaining their lives as New Yorkers exceeded their income, they moved to Houston.

Life as Texans treated them well and his father found work as a laborer in Houston’s oil industry.

Pervez would go on to attend Texas A&M University, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and another masters degree from MIT.

Tragedy struck the family during the oil market crisis of 2016. Agwan’s father lost his job and then his health benefits.

Only months later he died from a heart attack due to his financial inability to keep his health conditions under control.
