Kristen Washington: Representative for the Underdog

After Representative Bryan Slaton was unanimously expelled from District 2, Kristen Washington decided to step up to the plate and run to fill his place. She is the sole Democrat to do so. But, unlike most politicians, Washington defines herself as more than just the “lone democratic.” She is also a mother, citizen, daughter, and advocate of the people.

Issues Kristen Washington is fighting for

The number one issue that concerns to Washington is education. Washington wants to improve the public school education system. She also vehemently opposed to the current grading system and unfunded state mandates. Washington is also a strong supporter increasing the pay for teachers to “attract quality educators to teach our children.”

Another issue that concerns to Washington is Healthcare. Washington believes that healthcare is a universal right and that everyone deserves. To ensure that people have access to health care, Washington wants to expand Medicaid. More Medicaid will allow people with low income access to healthcare. Washington also wants to expand telehealth services so that people who are not able to travel can still receive medical assistance.

The final issue that concerns Washington is internet access. During the pandemic, internet access became crucial as students and parents were required to work from home. As a result, many people who did not have access to the internet during this time lost their jobs and/or were not able to go to school anymore. Washington does not this to be anyone’s fate and wants to improve internet access in areas that do not typically get internet access.

The General Election

The issues that Washington fights for prove that she is an advocate for the underrepresented members of society. Unlike most politicians, Washington is a fighter for the people in her community who need her help. Considering the work she does to make the world a better place for the underdog, she deserves your vote on March 5th and November 5th.
