Ann Johnson, incumbent for District 134, is a native of Texas politics and an esteemed Houston attorney.
The values of public servanthood were instilled in her at a young age by her father, Jake Johnson, a former attorney and state representative.
Building her career’s foundations, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and went on to earn a law degree from South Texas College of Law in 2001.
Following her father’s commendable footsteps, Ann became an attorney. She broke into the legal field, working in various public positions, until 2005, when she began working alongside her father, where she uncovered her passion for seeking justice for victims of human trafficking.
One of the most significant cases of her career took place in 2010, when Ann reversed the Harris County District Attorney’s prostitution charges of a 13-year-old girl, successfully declaring the innocence of a victim of child sex trafficking.
Come 2013, Ann would become the new Human Trafficking Specialist of the Harris County District Attorney’s office. During her time in this position, she prosecuted some of the most deplorable traffickers in the state.
As a result of her undisputed dedication, Ann is one of Houston’s most accomplished attorneys.
Every day, Ann Johnson advocates for gun safety reforms, further healthcare accessibility, improving public education, justice for women and children, LGBTQ equality, and combating Republican gerrymandering.
Ann Johnson has dedicated nearly her entire career to social justice, elegantly embodying the pure meaning of public servanthood.
Johnson is running for re-election to continue her fight against the issues that run rampant in the lives of Texans; her name will be on the Democratic primary ballot in March of this year.
