On March 5th, 2023, Marquette Greene-Scott will be running for the 22nd District of Texas. Scott believes that Congress is currently in ruins and is running to restore it as a place of “handling the people’s business.” And this isn’t just talk. Her experience as a Mayor Pro Tem of Iowa Colony, a single mother, and a veteran’s daughter make her the perfect person to actually carry out “the people’s business.”
Marquette Greene- Scott’s Experience as a Mayor Pro Tem
As a Mayor Pro Tem, Marquette Greene-Scott gained extensive experience in voting without the “blur of party lines.” This experience is essential because it shows that Scott will not vote on bills on issues because her party wants her to. She will vote on issues because it will actually help the people. To put it another way, she is a representative of the people, not her party.
Marquette Greene- Scott’s Experience as a Single Mother
As a former single mother, Scott is empathetic towards the struggle that many women face and “the importance of community.” She started law school when her daughter was barely 18 months old. Despite the stress and anxiety that comes from having a daughter in law school, she was able to finish because of the community around her. And, as a representative, she vows to provide other women with the same kind of community she received.
Marquette Greene Scott’s Experience as a Veteran’s Daughter
Next, Scott’s experience as a veteran’s daughter has given her a unique perspective. She believes that providing veterans with mental and physical healthcare is not enough. The families of veterans must also be taken care of. They sacrifice just as much, if not more, than the veterans. And as a representative, she will do everything she can to take care of these families.
Finally, On March 5th, 2023, Scott will be on the ballot for the 22nd District of Texas. And, given her extensive experiences, it is clear that she understands the issues of the people very well and will fight on their behalf if she is elected.
